Diebold Transforms The Consumer Banking Experience With Branch Performance Series Terminals

In-lobby terminals strike balance between automated and teller transactions inside the branch

15 October 2013
NORTH CANTON, Ohio – With a new family of banking terminals, Diebold, Incorporated (NYSE: DBD) is helping financial institutions (FIs) achieve branch transformation goals. Influenced by a two-year research initiative on the ideal in-branch consumer experience, Diebold’s Opteva® Branch Performance Series™ is designed to help FIs realize operational efficiencies and encourage customer relationship-building opportunities. The in-lobby teller terminals deliver a self-service or partially assisted service capability directly at the teller line, next to a teller pod or as a stand-alone unit within the lobby or vestibule.

“Our job is to help connect banks with their customers in a way that simplifies the process and enhances the experience for both parties,” said Frank A. Natoli Jr., Diebold executive vice president and chief innovation officer. “As consumer needs change, we are helping financial institutions evolve the form and function of the branch to become a more efficient, customer-centric destination.”

Branch Performance Series terminals migrate transactions to a self-service device within the branch, reducing the costs associated with completing routine transactions at the teller line. This allows financial institution employees to spend more time interacting with customers for value-added transactions. The in-lobby teller terminals are specifically oriented toward the unique needs of the branch, allowing automation and tellers to coexist in meaningful ways. Keeping consumers inside the branch enhances personal interactions and enables FIs to capitalize on cross-selling opportunities.

“Based on Diebold’s research, which included one-on-one interactions with FIs and consumers, we believe a key to transforming branches is incorporating automation within the branch,” said Natoli. “Consumers and small to medium-sized businesses want to complete fast, efficient transactions in a professional environment. They want intuitive technologies. The Branch Performance Series addresses each of these needs.”

Branch Performance Series terminals deliver a robust transaction set, which currently includes withdrawals and envelope-free check and cash deposits. The in-lobby teller terminals can be integrated with Concierge Video Services™ and Agilis Campaign Office® to further personalize the interaction experience and connect with call center staff as needed. The in-lobby teller terminal runs on the Agilis® software platform and is currently available in the United States.
