Diebold Guides Branch Transformation Strategy For First Citizens National Bank

05 November 2013
Branches to combine self-service technologies with personal service for better customer experiences

NORTH CANTON, Ohio, Nov. 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Diebold, Incorporated (NYSE: DBD) is helping First Citizens National Bank (FCNB) implement a branch transformation strategy that will combine self-service and personalized interactions throughout its branch network. Working with Diebold Advisory Services, FCNB is enhancing customers' branch experiences by introducing deposit automation and teller automation capabilities to branches, as well as the first implementation of Diebold's new Opteva® Branch Performance Series™ in-lobby teller terminal.

Based in Dyersburg, Tenn., FCNB is among the top community banks in the United States. It operates 17 branches throughout Tennessee, with a new branch scheduled to open in Jackson by mid-2014 that will epitomize the bank's new branch model.

"Across our enterprise we're investigating new branch layouts and technologies that will improve efficiencies for our customers, as well as our operations," said Judy Long, executive vice president, chief operations officer, FCNB. "For example, our new Jackson branch will give customers choices for managing deposits and advanced transactions on their own, enabling them to move through the branch quickly and create opportunities for our associates to interact with customers to help meet their financial needs."

Automating transactions will enable FCNB to reduce teller-assisted transactions and reposition its branches as sales and advisory centers. Self-service deposit automation technology drives transactions to terminals where customers can make envelope-free cash and check deposits. And Diebold's 228 Express Cash Recycler automatically validates, sorts and denominates notes for tellers and reuses them for future withdrawals. Both technologies will reduce demands on FCNB's staff, freeing up more time for building customer relationships.

At FCNB's Jackson branch, an associate will welcome the customer to the branch and, if appropriate, walk them to the in-lobby teller terminal where they will assist the customer with completing their transaction.

"As part of its branch transformation strategy, we're helping FCNB redesign branch traffic flows, right-size larger branches, reduce teller areas and leverage technology to create a more engaging customer experience," said Mychal Kempt, vice president, North America operations, Diebold. "FCNB has begun this process for a number of branches, and the bank is eager to implement the technologies planned."
