Apple Federal Credit Union Boosts ATM Technology And Compliance With Diebold
06 May 2014New software and deposit automation capability enriches members’ self-service experiences
NORTH CANTON, Ohio – Delivering a range of upgrades and services, Diebold, Incorporated (NYSE: DBD) is improving the security, uptime, compliance and capabilities of Apple Federal Credit Union’s self-service network. Diebold is upgrading the credit union’s automated teller machines (ATMs) to the Windows® 7 operating system, as well as providing availability management, software deployment and maintenance services for the fleet. In addition, Diebold is converting the majority of Apple FCU’s terminals to deposit automation-enabled Opteva® ATMs, extending new capabilities and convenience to credit union members.
Based in Fairfax, Va., Apple FCU operates 22 branches and a fleet of 46 ATMs across northern Virginia. The credit union wanted to expand the capabilities of its fleet, while also addressing Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance regulations.
“Diebold’s services will help us better meet strict compliance regulations with minimal internal oversight, freeing up our staff to spend more time serving our members,” said Larry Kelly, president/CEO, Apple FCU. “At the same time, we’re delivering greater convenience to our members by expanding our fleet’s deposit automation capabilities.”
To enhance Apple FCU’s compliance with PCI requirements, Diebold is updating all of the credit union’s ATMs to Windows 7, as well as adding new Encrypting PIN Pads (EPPs) and EMV card readers to the terminals. Diebold’s software distribution services will further support Apple FCU’s compliance efforts by ensuring the credit union’s ATMs have the latest security patches and anti-virus and operating system software.
Beyond compliance-related solutions, Diebold’s ATM Endpoint Protection by Symantec™ and alarm monitoring services will enhance security for customers. In addition, Diebold’s OpteView® Resolve™ solution will improve the uptime of the credit union’s ATMs by enabling Diebold to remotely diagnose ATM errors, manage remote fixes and dispatch technicians, when needed, with the right parts to make a repair.
“Optimizing the compliance, security and availability of Apple FCU’s self-service fleet is the primary goal of our outsourcing services team,” said Mychal D. Kempt, vice president, North America operations, Diebold. “We manage the maintenance and upkeep of the terminals, so the credit union can better serve its members.”
As Apple FCU expands its deposit automation offerings, the credit union is investigating additional self-service technologies and branch transformation strategies with Diebold to further enrich its ATM and branch network.
